Brand Love By Eduardo Enrique is a solo exhibition held at Art Now. This project was initially envisioned with a conspicuous interior, to create a faux Nike-BDSM pop-up store: involving the use of manufactured furnishing to create a luxurious look that is in sync with Art Now’s space. However, with an understanding of the artist’s use of unconventional mediums, the usage of construction materials was concluded that it will characterise the artist’s style. The curation of building and construction materials became the essence of the project.
Embracing the concept of beauty in simplicity, each unit is carefully orchestrated and composed by exploiting the regularity of the materials. This required the designers to navigate around constrains of the medium itself (each lightweight concrete block measures 200 x 600), to create various stages catering to the distinct art works which consist of materials such as leather, rubber, wood and stainless steel. As such, different types of display areas were formed within the size of 200 x 600 that catered to the different objects. A series of platforms of various elevations were further constructed to create a sense of hierarchy, serving as a visual cue as well.
Throughout the design, the dissonance between various materials are celebrated to create a coherent piece. By juxtaposing reflective and matt materials, heavy and light elements and contrasting cool and bright tones, the space is stripped to the bare essentials and a chaotic harmony is achieved.
